What VQG’s Charities are all about…
We donate to several designated charitable organizations:
- St. Andrews Children’s Clinic
- Hands of a Friend/Genesis House for Domestic Violence
- Valley Assistance Services
- Veterans Hospital
For these charities we make quilts, receiving blankets, pillow tote bags, and Christmas stockings. We also collect toiletries for the safe house and aluminum pull tabs for Ronald McDonald House. In 2017, we made more than 650 Christmas stockings for Valley Assistance Services.
At our meetings, we will continue to offer fabric pre-cuts for our members to put together their own charity quilts. Stop by the charity tables to see what we have next. And don’t forget to pick up some of our ready-made kits to take home: quilts, pillowcase totes, and stockings. We will offer batting for charity quilts if you contact Janie with the size prior to the meeting date so it will be available for you.
Currently, we are working on a new set of Patriotic Quilts which will go to each veteran on the next “Honor Flight”.
From our members and area residents we appreciate donations of fabric, batting, thread, cording, and other supplies as well as pull tabs and toiletries. A heartfelt THANK YOU to all who work on our charity projects and to those who donate goods.
