The opportunity quilt, "Desert Splendor"
will be given away on March 19, 2011
at the Valley Quilters Guild Quilt Show
which will be held at the Community
Performing Arts Center in Green Valley.
The setting design and pieced squares are patterned
after the original designs in the 1995 Rio Grande
Vista Quilt by The Quilt Works, Inc., Albuquerque, NM,
used with permission. The applique blocks are
original designs by Arlene Walsh, Benson, AZ,
used with permission. Twenty-eight members of the
quild participated in making the quilt blocks.
The quilt was designed and assembled by Jane Smith
and machine quilted by Mary Anne Strauss.
The Valley Quilters Guild formed to gather individuals together in a common bond of quilting and fiber art. Our goal is to contribute to the growth and knowledge of quilting techniques, textiles, patterns, and history of quilt making. We accomplish this by providing educational programs and workshops, supporting and sponsoring quilting activities.
